Speaker 2 00:00:12 This episode is titled Promoting Inclusion with Your Latino Community. This episode is for you if you wanna learn how to promote inclusion with your Latino community. If you're interested in understanding the importance of Latino heritage in the United States, or if you wanna know how promoting inclusion can benefit your organization and community. Today we're gonna talk about promoting inclusion with your Latino community.
Speaker 2 00:00:42 Right now, it's not time for Latino Heritage Month. That doesn't mean that we should forget about Latinos until the next month. We celebrate Latino Heritage Month every year to honor Latinos in the United States, and one month is a good start, but it's not good enough. Organizations don't have to create year long celebrations, but there's one thing they should all do. They should all focus on promoting inclusion with their Latino community. The data supports promoting inclusion with your Latino community. Latinos have become integral to the success of the United States, and they're only becoming more important over time. According to the Pew Research Center, they're more than 57 million Latinos living in the United States, making up 17% of the population. As business owners, executives, essential workers, and students, communities are led and propped up by Latinos all over the country. So you can honor Latino heritage by promoting inclusion.
Speaker 2 00:01:39 You can honor it by promoting inclusion throughout your organization. Inclusion is the idea that everyone belongs and deserves to be treated with respect. You can support your Latino community by removing barriers that prevent them from feeling welcome. And here are five ways that you can promote inclusion with your Latino community. Number one, seek input. Lean into your Latino community to understand their needs and desires. Ask them directly to show them how much you value their perspective. The last thing anybody wants is for a well-intentioned manager to lead a poorly planned and poorly executed event for their Latino staff. Number two, provide equitable access to information. Make sure your website is fully translated into Spanish and any other languages spoken by your target audience. You're doing a disservice to your community if you aren't providing the same access to information that English speakers get. Number three, promote a welcoming environment. Make sure that all your marketing materials reflect the diversity of your community. Include images of people from different backgrounds and races, genders, orientations, and abilities.
Speaker 2 00:02:48 Number four, donate money or resources. Donate money or resources. Organizations that support Latinos in need, such as United with Dream or Voto. Latino. Even better find a way to get involved personally on issues like immigration reform or education access. And number five, former Latino Resource Group support the creation of a Latino resource group. This can empower Latinos in your organization to step up as leaders. Resource groups can be great ways for people to connect with like-minded individuals. Now it's time for you to give results by promoting inclusion with your Latino community. Promoting inclusion has been shown to increase employee engagement, retention, and performance. And by creating an environment that welcomes a Latino heritage of your staff, you're setting your organization up for success. And so now it's time, time to commit. How can you use the five ways listed to promote inclusion with your Latino community in your personal and professional life? And in what other ways can organizations and individuals honor Latino heritage and promote inclusion beyond the suggestions mentioned today? So let me know how it goes. I, I'm really interested. Thanks.
