Speaker 0 00:00:00 From Romano Leadership, I'm Oscar Romano. This is Learn Reflect Lead Leadership and d I A development for mission-driven individuals and organizations. This episode is titled Holiday Self-Care. My taking a break is important for productivity. This episode is for you. If you're feeling overwhelmed during the holiday season, you need a reminder to prioritize self-care if you tend to view the holidays as an opportunity to catch up on work or feel pressure to do it all, or if you wanna learn about the benefits of mindfulness, reflection and relaxation, and how they can improve productivity and success in the long run. Today we're gonna talk about the importance of practicing holiday self-care. I can get that done during the break. Do you wanna meet up during the break to work on that project? Oh, it's okay. I can answer a few emails while watching a movie with my family.
Speaker 0 00:00:55 I wish I could say that none of those statements ever applied to me. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. I've been guilty of you in the holidays or any other breaks as opportunities to get ahead or catch up with work. Over time, I've learned how important it's to dedicate time to holiday self-care. There there's an illusion around fee time. In the midst of the holiday season, many of us are feeling the pressure to juggle work, social responsibilities, and holiday preparations. The free time we have during the holiday season can be misleading. We may think that we have plenty of time to complete all our tasks and obligations, but the truth is that we often underestimate the time and energy required to do so. Here's a reflection question for you. Are you guilty of thinking about the holidays as free time or for work instead of relaxation?
Speaker 0 00:01:47 You need to remember that you can't do it all. I can already hear some of you saying that you just have to find a way to get it all done, that you have no choice. Trying to do it all and be everything to everyone may seem like the right thing to do, but it's not a sustainable approach. Instead of trying to juggle multiple tasks at once, we should focus on prioritizing and completing one task, one task at a time. This will not only help us be more productive and efficient, but also reduce our stress and prevent us from burning out. Here's another reflection question for you. Have you ever tried to get it all done? Only to be disappointed when you didn't? All self cares about recharging.
Speaker 0 00:02:29 All right. When we fully relax and let go of our to-do lists, we give ourselves the opportunity to recharge and refocus. By taking the time to rest and recharge, we can return to our tasks with renewed energy and focus and be more productive in the long run. The holiday season is the perfect time to practice relaxation and let go of the need to constantly be productive. Instead of trying to check everything off our to-do list, we can take the time to focus on ourselves, and we can also use the holiday season as an opportunity to reflect on the the past year and set intentions for the year ahead.
Speaker 0 00:03:03 So what do you need to do to recharge? Now, here's some tips for you around holiday self-care. Here's what you can do to focus on yourself and relax at a hundred percent this holiday season. Let go of the need to constantly be productive. Multi-tasking is not efficient, and it can lead to decreased productivity and increased stress. You can also practice mindfulness and focus on the present moment. Enjoy the holiday season by letting go of worries and focusing on the present moment. You can connect with loved ones and enjoy festive activities. Spend time with the people you care about and participate in fun holiday traditions.
Speaker 0 00:03:51 You can indulge in self-care. You can take care of yourself by doing things that make you happy and help you feel more relaxed. Reflect on the past year and set intentions for the future. Use the holiday season as an opportunity to reflect and plan for the year ahead. Give yourself the gift of relaxation and rejuvenation. Take the time to recharge and refocus so you can be more productive in the long run and set yourself up for a happy and successful new year. By practicing relaxation and self-care during the holiday season, you can start the new year feeling refreshed and ready to tackle your goals.
Speaker 0 00:04:32 Which tip do you think could work for you? All right. Please enjoy the moment during any holiday season. Let go of the pressure to do it all and embrace the opportunity to fully relax and enjoy the moment. Whether you spend your time cozying up with a good book, taking a long bath, or enjoying a festive meal with loved ones, make sure to give yourself the gift, relaxation, and rejuvenation. By doing so, you'll be setting yourself for a happy and successful like next part of your life, whether that be in the next few weeks, months, or years. So now it's time to commit. What are your thoughts on the idea that multitasking is not efficient and could lead to decreased productivity and increased stress? And what are some self-care activities that you can incorporate into any future holiday season to recharge and refocus? Let me know how it goes. Thanks.
